It's formally called "The Gold Project." There's a little story that goes along with it that I would like to share.
You may or may not be familiar with Kennard Chandler. I first met him at a PEA mentalism convention. I was brand new to this organization and feeling incredibly out of place. I was in a hotel surrounded by guys I'd been reading and studying for years. Chandler -- as he prefers to be called -- sat down across from me and just started chatting. He familiarized me with many of the things I didn't know about the internal workings of the PEA and made a point of introducing me to the members who turned out, for the most part, to be regular guys.
Why start this off by talking about Chandler? First, I want you to know he is a nice guy. A great guy, actually. Second: He's been hit hard by life for a number of years. His wife, Bean, has contracted a terminal disease. Bills piled up. Savings were gone. Credit cards were maxed. If you've been blessed with someone you love, you know what I'm talking about.
Each performer was asked to contribute an effect that they USE...that would fit the description of PERFORMANCE GOLD. By this I mean the very best of the best. Every single one of the contributions fits that description. I've read a lot of mentalism books -- and I've written a number of them. But I say, without exaggeration that there is more commercial material in this single book than anything else I have read. Ever. By anyone.
Colin McLeod contributes a video -- a routine he hadn't planned on sharing for a couple of years yet -- that reveals his take on the Invisible Deck and creates something that is part prediction, part revelation and all amazing. This alone is worth more than the price of the book!
Richard Osterlind is at his most brilliant with "Make it Count." This is his private effect for when he needs to come up with something that will cause jaws to drop instantly. In this effect, he reads a mind, tells the spectators exactly what they were think of BEFORE they settled on their final selection and much more. This may be one of the very best mentalism effects with a single deck of cards.
Neal Scryer contributes TWO previously unreleased effects. Bruce Bernstein sends a prediction routine uses a diabolical principal to create literal wonder.
Luca Volpe contributes an electronic free Which Hand effect that is...well...just...........amazing.
Ted Karmilovich reveals the killer effect he has used for years to lead into one of his most famous creations: The Mother of All Book Tests. Jheff contributes a masterwork of wordsmithing to build a powerful commercial effect. This is a masterclass on how to do mentalism with words.
The list goes on and on: Millard Longman (who created the classic Acidus Novus) takes on Covid with suggestions of effects that can be performed in our new world and offers a divination system perfectly geared to restaurants. Richard Webster provides a remarkable pendulum effect. Robert Siepielski (who you may or may not have heard of) offers the single BEST THREE ENVELOPE ROUTINE I HAVE EVER READ. It's brilliant!
I've included my favourite nail wr*ter effect -- one I have been doing for nearly a decade and never released before.
This is a GREAT BOOK. You WILL find practical killer material that you WILL use. Innovative thinking...versatile methods...outstanding real-world routines.
Best of all? Every penny from every sale goes directly to Chandler -- the aforementioned nice-guy-who-can-use-a-hand. Every single penny.
For my money -- and yes I am biased -- I think this is quite possibly the Book of the Year.
You can purchase the book directly from Chandler here.
