It's exactly a week away. But I have to say that I'm looking forward to this MindVention more than I've looked forward to anything in a long while. People have been talking up a mysterious new "something" from ParaLabs for weeks. Rumor has it that there's something amazing about to be launched this year and, while I have a few ideas, I've decided to wait in happy anticipation. Bob Cassidy is going to get a Lifetime Achievement Award -- and I'm looking forward to that as well. I initially met him at the first MV we attended and that's where he went from being an author I respected to being a good friend. Speaking of Cassidy, he's launching his new book: The Artful Mentalism of Bob Cassidy Volume 2. The first book, if you can get your hands on it, is a textbook of mentalism: effects, ideas, philosophies and so much more. (It's a little known fact that you can pre-order this book and Jheff from Marketplace of the Mind will bring a copy for you. That's what I've done.) Presenters include John Riggs, the ParaLab guys,Docc Hilford and many more. The list HAD included the legendary Bruce Bernstein and (at one time) Jerome Finley -- but they're both unable to make it this year. One of the most hotly anticipated presenters is the uber-mysterious Paolo Cavalli ("Lord of the Horses" to Magic Cafe subscribers) -- who has risen to LS (Legendary Status) over the years. There's a lot to look forward to... I think missing this MV would suck. So here's my idea: I'm going to try to keep you all informed in the way I'd like to be kept informed if I couldn't make it. I'll update you on the rumors and the hot topics, the performances, the new products. I promise at least one update a day -- more if I can get my Luddite head out of my butt and figure out how to do updates from my phone. But if you've been to MV in the past, you know that it starts early in the morning and thunders well into the night. The lectures and the dealers are in one area -- but many would say that the real convention (or, at the very least a HUGE part of the convention) takes place in Jack's Pub. This is where Cassidy holds court and some of the most memorable things happen. This is Sunday. We're leaving Tuesday afternoon to get a little R&R in before the convention starts. Between then and now, I'm going to try to figure out the phone thing. You're welcome. Anyway...if I can get it working, you're going to see the updates here.
